ICRC visits people of Armenian origin in Azerbaijani prison
In November, ICRC staff members again visited persons of Armenian origin as reported by Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis detained in Armenia.
The head of the public relations department of the Azerbaijani representative office of the ICRC, Ilaha Huseynova, told APA.
According to the information, one-on-one meetings were held with the detainees, and conditions were created for contact with their families.
“In conformity with its mandate, during visits, the ICRC assesses the treatment of detainees and the conditions of their detention and creates conditions for the restoration or continuation of their contacts with their families. In keeping with ICRC procedures, observations and recommendations regarding visits are communicated only to the detaining party,” the statement reads.
