IDF announces start of daily "tactical pause" for humanitarian purposes Across parts of Gaza Strip
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced a daily “tactical pause” in military activity in select areas of the Gaza Strip to facilitate the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid.
According to the military' official statement published by Israeli media outlets on July 27, the pause will begin starting from the same day in those areas where the IDF is not operating, Caliber.Az reports.
The announcement further notes that this schedule, which in its initial phase will span over al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City will continue "every day until further notice," clarifying that Israel arrived at this decision in co-ordinated with the UN and international organisations.
"In addition, designated secure routes will be in place permanently from 06:00 to 23:00 [local time] to enable the safe passage of UN and humanitarian aid organisation convoys delivering and distributing food and medicine to the population across the Gaza Strip," the IDF states
Their notice adds that it "will continue to support humanitarian efforts alongside ongoing manoeuvring and offensive operations against terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip, in order to protect Israeli civilians."
Israel's defence branch also highlights that it is prepared to expand the scale of this activity as required.
