IDF claims Hezbollah used ambulances to transport weapons
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have published what they describe as evidence that Hezbollah is using ambulances to move weapons and fighters.
In posts on its social media accounts, the IDF said the organisation uses vehicles and medical personnel as cover to transfer weapons and operatives, violating the special protection granted to these assets under international law.
The IDF notes that evacuation efforts in southern Lebanon, aimed at protecting civilians, make it more difficult for Hezbollah operatives to conceal themselves and move.
“Therefore, the organisation has increased the use of ambulances to move operatives between different locations while hiding their true identities,” the military said.
According to the IDF, troops from the Golani Brigade recently conducted searches in the Kantara area after eliminating armed militants who had violated the ceasefire and posed a threat.
During the searches, an ambulance allegedly used by militants to conceal weapons was discovered, containing explosive devices, mortars, magazines, and grenades.
In another incident over the past month, soldiers from the 7th Brigade reportedly encountered a Hezbollah operative near an ambulance who was armed with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.
The militant opened fire on IDF forces and was killed.
Weapons were later found inside the ambulance, which the IDF says were used for combat purposes.
The IDF also released footage which it claims shows militants fleeing after strikes, hiding until an ambulance arrives to evacuate them—allegedly transporting individuals on stretchers in body bags without visible injuries.
