IDF eliminate militants after detection in eastern Rafah
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are continuing their operation in the Rafah area, targeting terrorist infrastructure located both above and below ground and working to eliminate militants still operating in the area, the IDF press service reported.
According to the military, Israeli troops on the previous day detected several armed militants emerging from underground terrorist infrastructure in eastern Rafah. The army described the incident as a violation of the existing ceasefire agreement.
Following the detection, Israeli forces carried out a strike that eliminated several militants in order to neutralise the threat. Later, overnight into Friday, the IDF launched an additional precision strike against several armed Hamas militants in the Rafah area in response to the reported violations.
The military emphasised that it treats any attempts by terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip to carry out attacks against IDF personnel or the State of Israel with the utmost seriousness.
The statement added that IDF forces operating under the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire arrangements and will continue taking action to remove any immediate threats.
