IDF: Hezbollah militants approached Israeli troops, threat neutralised
The Israel Defence Forces said its troops killed a group of armed Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon this week after they approached Israeli positions and posed an immediate threat.
“Earlier this week, armed Hezbollah terrorists approached IDF soldiers of the 91st Division and posed a threat to them,” the military said in a statement.
The IDF said it responded swiftly, with the Israeli Air Force carrying out a strike on Wednesday that “eliminated the terrorists” in what it described as a rapid operational response.
Separately, ground forces operating in the area discovered what the military called a significant cache of weapons.
“The soldiers located numerous weapons, including rifles, RPGs, ammunition magazines, and additional weapons,” the statement said.
The military reiterated its intention to continue operations against Hezbollah, linking the group’s actions to broader regional tensions.
“The IDF will continue to operate decisively against the Hezbollah terrorist organisation after it chose to join the hostilities and operate under the auspices of the Iranian regime,” it said.
