IDF: Israeli soldier killed during combat operations near Lebanon border Photo

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said an Israeli soldier was killed during combat operations near the country’s border with Lebanon.

According to an army statement, the incident took place in the area of the Israeli-Lebanese frontier. The military said the soldier’s family had been informed before his identity was made public.

The IDF identified the soldier as Alexander Glovaniev, 47, a major serving as a lead driver in the 6924th Transport Battalion under the army’s Transport Centre.

“Major Alexander Glovaniev, 47, a lead driver in the 6924th Transport Battalion, Transport Centre, was killed in combat near the Lebanese border,” the military said.
