IDF: Mojtaba Khamenei not immune from Israeli strikes
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) will continue targeting anyone deemed a threat to the state of Israel, including Mojtaba Khamenei, IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin said on Tuesday, March 17.
Speaking to reporters, Defrin was asked whether the IDF had information about Khamenei’s whereabouts or status, noting that he has not appeared publicly since assuming the role of Supreme Leader. Defrin said the military had no such information but reiterated Israel’s position.
“But I can say one thing: we will continue, as we have proven, we will continue to pursue anyone who poses a threat to the state of Israel, and anyone who raises a hand against it is not immune from us. We will pursue him, find him, and neutralise him,” he said.
Defrin also stated that Israel would maintain operations against members of Iran’s paramilitary Basij forces, adding: “I say here again, we will reach everyone, no matter where or when.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF said it had killed the commander of the Basij, Gholamreza Soleimani.
Defrin further indicated that Israel is preparing for a prolonged military campaign, including during Passover, which this year falls during the first eight days of April.
