IDF reports additional strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon
The Israel Defence Forces said it carried out additional waves of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut and southern Lebanon on Friday, March 13.
In a statement released by the Israeli military’s press service, the IDF said the strikes focused on command centres operated by Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital.
“Yesterday (Friday), the IDF completed several additional waves of strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut and southern Lebanon,” the statement said.
According to the military, the strikes targeted and destroyed additional command centres that had been established by Hezbollah in Beirut.
“Additional command centres established by the Hezbollah terrorist organisation in Beirut were struck and destroyed by the IDF. This included Hezbollah command centres from which terrorists operated to advance terror attacks against the State of Israel and its residents,” the statement added.
The IDF said the strikes were part of its ongoing military campaign, Operation Roaring Lion, which it said has significantly degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities since the start of the operation.
“Since the beginning of Operation Roaring Lion, IDF strikes in Lebanon have severely damaged the organisation’s command and control capabilities, its financial situation, and the weapons in its possession,” the statement said.
According to the Israeli military, approximately 110 Hezbollah command centres have been struck in Lebanon since the start of the operation.
The statement also accused Hezbollah of placing its military infrastructure within civilian areas.
“The Hezbollah terrorist organisation systematically embeds its infrastructure within the civilian population across Lebanon. This is another example of the organisation’s cynical exploitation of Lebanese civilians for its terrorist activities,” the IDF said.
The military added that steps were taken to reduce the risk to civilians before the strikes were carried out.
“Prior to the strikes, measures were taken to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians, including advance warnings, the use of precision munitions, and aerial surveillance,” the statement said.
According to the IDF, the operations are being conducted in response to attacks by Hezbollah against Israel.
“The IDF is operating decisively against the Hezbollah terrorist organisation in response to its deliberate decision to attack Israel on behalf of the Iranian terror regime. The IDF will not allow harm to the residents of the State of Israel,” the statement said.
