IDF says Hamas commander killed in Gaza strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it killed a Hamas militant who also worked as a doctor at a hospital in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the IDF said a precision strike was carried out two days ago in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of Jamal Abu Aoun, who it identified as a commander in Hamas’s military wing, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Israeli military, Abu Aoun also worked as a doctor at the Yaffa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, while simultaneously commanding militants.
The IDF said he had recently been involved in efforts to rebuild and strengthen Hamas’s combat capabilities, despite existing ceasefire agreements.
“This militant’s actions are yet another example of Hamas’s cynical use of civilian positions to advance terrorist activities,” the Israeli military’s press office said in a statement.
