IDF says suspected militants killed near “yellow line” in Gaza

22 May 2026 15:38

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops were involved in multiple incidents in the Gaza Strip on May 21–22, in which individuals identified as militants were killed after approaching Israeli positions near a designated boundary known as the “yellow line.”

In a statement, the IDF said soldiers from the Northern Brigade “detected a terrorist who crossed the ‘yellow line’ and approached IDF forces, posing an immediate threat,” adding that “the terrorist was neutralised," Caliber.Az reports.

The military said a similar incident occurred on the night of May 21 in the southern Gaza Strip, where troops from the 188th Brigade identified an individual who had crossed the same boundary and was allegedly threatening Israeli personnel. The IDF said the individual was also “neutralisd.”

The IDF further reported that on May 22, forces from the 454th Artillery Brigade operating in northern Gaza observed a “suspicious” individual near the “yellow line,” whom it said posed an immediate threat. The army said an airstrike was carried out shortly after detection.

“IDF forces under the command of the Southern Command are deployed in this area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to neutralise any immediate threat,” the statement said.
