IDF says two senior Hezbollah members killed in strikes

The Israel Defence Forces said it has killed two senior members of Hezbollah as it continues strikes on the group’s infrastructure across Lebanon.

In a statement released by its press office, the military said it is continuously targeting Hezbollah positions throughout the country.

“Yesterday (Friday), the IDF conducted a targeted strike in Beirut and eliminated Ayyoub Hussein Yaacoub, a senior terrorist in Hezbollah’s Communications Unit.

Previously, he served as a senior figure in the terrorist organisation’s rocket unit, played a central role in fire management, and took part in directing launches toward the State of Israel throughout Operation Northern Arrows.

As part of his role, he was also involved in force buildup and the strengthening of Hezbollah’s rocket unit,” the statement said.

The IDF added that Yasser Mohammad Mubarak, another senior member of Hezbollah’s Communications Unit who also held a position in the group’s rocket unit, was also killed.

According to the statement, Israeli forces carried out extensive strikes overnight, targeting dozens of sites from both air and sea across multiple areas in southern Lebanon. The operations were conducted in support of ground troops and as part of a broader effort to degrade Hezbollah’s military capabilities in the region.

Among the targets hit were weapons storage facilities, launchers, military structures, and other infrastructure described by the IDF as linked to militant activity.

“The IDF will continue to operate with determination against Hezbollah, which chose to join the attacks on Israel and operate on behalf of the Iranian terror regime. The IDF will not allow harm to the residents of Israel,” the statement said.
