IDF strikes Hezbollah rocket units in Lebanon, several militants killed

On February 20, 2026, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) conducted targeted strikes against Hezbollah, eliminating several militants from the group’s rocket unit at three separate command centres in the Baalbek region of Lebanon, the IDF confirmed.

According to the IDF press service, intelligence indicated that the militants were accelerating the organisation’s force buildup and preparing attacks, including planned rocket launches aimed at Israeli territory. These operations posed a direct threat to both the IDF and Israeli civilians.

Hezbollah’s rocket unit is responsible for launching rockets and missile projectiles into Israel. Recent intelligence confirmed that the group had been planning such attacks, in violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

The IDF stressed that it will continue to act decisively against any attempts by Hezbollah to strengthen its positions or arm itself, aiming to neutralise threats to Israeli citizens.

At the same time, the military reaffirmed its commitment to the existing ceasefire agreements with Lebanon, emphasising that its operations are defensive and targeted at preventing future attacks.
