IDF strikes Iran's airports in overnight Tehran operation PHOTO/VIDEO
The Israeli military said it carried out a large-scale wave of overnight airstrikes in Tehran targeting assets of the Iranian Air Force and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said dozens of fighter jets struck aircraft, helicopters and other military infrastructure at three airports in the Iranian capital: Bahram Airport, Mehrabad Airport and Azmayesh Airport, Caliber.Az reports.
The operation was aimed at degrading Iran’s aerial capabilities, according to the statement.
The IDF said that Mehrabad Airport, which had previously been targeted during “Operation Roaring Lion,” was used by the IRGC’s Quds Force as a hub for transferring weapons and funds to allied groups across the Middle East. It said aircraft carrying arms and cash had departed from the airport on multiple occasions.
