India doubles purchase of Russian diamonds

In March, India more than doubled in annualized terms the volume of diamond purchases from Russia.

In annual terms, India's imports of Russian diamonds increased 2.3 times to 728,000 carats, Lenta.ru reports.

Delhi also increased purchases of precious stones from Canada, China and Hong Kong. Diamond shipments to India from Belgium, the UAE, the US, Israel, Botswana and South Africa fell.

Over the year, total diamond shipments to India fell from 14.7 million carats to 12.15 million carats.
