India plans to shift Chabahar stake to local entity

India is planning to transfer its stake in Iran’s Chabahar port to a local legal entity ahead of the expiration of US sanctions waivers, according to a report.

The information was reported by Business Insider, citing sources familiar with the situation.

The report states that the move is intended to allow continued operations at the strategically significant port while reducing exposure to potential US sanctions. It also notes that India would regain control once sanctions restrictions are lifted or eased.

Chabahar port is considered a key logistical gateway for India, providing access to Afghanistan and Central Asia while bypassing Pakistan.
