India cautiously optimistic over US–Iran agreement, security adviser says
India is cautiously optimistic over the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran aimed at resolving their conflict, and hopes the agreement will be implemented, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has stated.
Speaking at the opening of a meeting of senior BRICS security officials in New Delhi, he welcomed the memorandum of understanding and said the agreement would contribute to strengthening energy security, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The opening of the Strait of Hormuz is a much-awaited development. It will remove bottlenecks in the supply chain, and many issues related to shortages, including fertilisers, chemicals, and so on, will be resolved,” he noted.
Doval also expressed confidence that “freedom of navigation will contribute to economic prosperity.”
