India successfully test-fires Agni-4 ballistic missile Demonstrates long-range capabilities
India has achieved a significant milestone with the successful test-firing of the Agni-4 medium-range ballistic missile, the country’s Ministry of Defence said.
The test took place at the Test Range in Chandipur in Odisha state, under the supervision of the Indian Strategic Forces Command, a part of India's Nuclear Command Authority (NCA), Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The Agni-4 missile, which has a range of up to 4,000 kilometers and can carry a payload of one ton, successfully met all operational and technical parameters during the test. This missile can be launched from a mobile platform, enhancing its strategic flexibility.
India's Agni missile series includes various models with differing ranges: the Agni-1, with a range of up to 700 kilometers; the Agni-2, with a range of 2,000 kilometers; the Agni-3, with more than 3,000 kilometers; and the Agni-5, which exceeds 5,000 kilometers.
Additionally, development is underway for the Agni-6 missile, which is expected to have a range of up to 10,000 kilometers and the capability to be launched from submarines. The Agni Prime missile, a modified version of the Agni-1 and Agni-2 with an advanced maneuvering head, is also in development.
