Indian PM, US president agree to meet in near future
US President Donald Trump extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the United States during a 35-minute phone conversation held after the G7 summit in Canada, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed.
Although Modi appreciated the gesture, he was unable to accept the invitation immediately due to prior scheduling commitments, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The two leaders, however, agreed to meet at a mutually convenient time in the near future.
In a reciprocal move, Prime Minister Modi invited President Trump to India to participate in the upcoming Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) summit. According to Misri, President Trump welcomed the invitation and expressed enthusiasm about visiting India.
