Indian prime minister may hold talks with US president at G7 summit

10 June 2026 14:29

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit taking place in Evian, France on June 16-17, official sources told The Hindu.

Trump has already confirmed his participation in the summit, which is being hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The meeting would be the first between Modi and Trump since their last face-to-face talks in Washington, D.C., in February 2025.

While details of the agenda have not been disclosed, the leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement, along with regional and global issues of shared interest.

India's Ministry of External Affairs said earlier that Modi will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the summit, without naming the participants.
