Indigenous Caucus created for first time at WUF13 in Baku

Within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), taking place in Baku, an Indigenous Peoples Group (Indigenous Caucus) has been established for the first time.

According to local media, this was stated by Florencia Soto Niño-Martínez, Co-Chair of the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Working Group of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), during a roundtable on “Adequate Housing for Indigenous Peoples”.

“This is the first time in the history of the World Urban Forum that an Indigenous Peoples Group has been created. We may be few here, but we are like seeds — we will grow and flourish,” she said.
