International partners deliver 1 gigawatt of energy equipment to support Ukraine Azerbaijan among them

31 January 2026 14:34

Ukraine has received more than 700 units of energy equipment from its international partners, with a combined capacity of approximately 1 gigawatt — roughly equivalent to the output of a single power unit at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant, Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Oleksiy Kuleba said in comments to Ukrainian media.

Kuleba said the deliveries included boilers, cogeneration facilities, and high-capacity mobile generators.

Support has come from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Estonia, Italy, Canada, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, the US, Türkiye, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, and Japan.

More than 100 pieces of equipment arrived in Ukraine in just the past week alone.

“To ensure stable operations of wastewater treatment plants, heating networks, and water supply systems, Ukraine needs additional power capacity. We are establishing a national reserve of mobile energy equipment, which will allow us to maintain essential services for people during repair works. This is especially critical in winter,” Kuleba said.

The government has already allocated 2.6 billion hryvnias to build a reserve with a total capacity of 130 megawatts. However, Kuleba stressed that this remains insufficient, and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development intends to seek further assistance from international partners.

At the same time, Ukraine’s grid operator Ukrenergo has dismissed false claims about electricity exports abroad, emphasising that all power plants are currently operating exclusively for domestic needs.

Energy officials said the misinformation is part of a hostile information campaign aimed at fueling public distrust and frustration.
