IOC: six Russians, five Belarusians received licenses to join Olympics
Six Russian and five Belarusian athletes have received licenses to participate in the Olympic Games to be held in Paris in 2024.
On December 8, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that 11 individual neutral athletes had qualified for the Games: eight with Russian citizenship and three with Belarusian citizenship, Kommersant reports.
The December 8 press release, which was updated on December 13, stated that the number of Russian athletes admitted had been "corrected." The reason is not specified.
The IOC admitted Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics as so-called individual neutral athletes if they qualified for it in accordance with the regulations of the respective federation.
Athletes will be able to perform in white or solid-coloured uniforms with the abbreviation AIN or the IOC-approved emblem on it.
