Drones intercepted over Black Sea spark series of blasts near Russia's Sochi video
A series of explosions — roughly ten in total — were heard overnight above Sochi and Tuapse in Russia’s Krasnodar region, with local residents reporting that air-defence units were targeting drones over the Black Sea.
Eyewitnesses cited by SHOT said the first blasts near Tuapse occurred at around 02:20 local time.
According to their accounts, at least seven powerful detonations were heard, accompanied by flashes coming from the direction of the sea. Several residents also described an unusual sound overhead, comparing it to the buzzing of an aircraft.
By approximately 02:45, air-raid sirens were activated in Sochi. Witnesses reported hearing at least three explosions in the Lazarevskoye settlement. Sirens were said to be audible along the Black Sea coastline, stretching from Sochi to Sirius and Adler.
Tourists staying in the Sirius area told SHOT that staff at one hotel instructed guests to move to the parking area as a precaution. At this stage, authorities have not issued any official statements regarding casualties or damage.
