Iran arrests nine suspected of spying for US, Israel
On March 25, Iranian authorities arrested nine individuals in two provinces on charges of espionage for foreign intelligence services, including the United States and Israel, Shafaq News reported, citing Iranian media.
According to ISNA, intelligence units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Semnan province dismantled a seven-person cell described as “mercenaries linked to Washington and Tel Aviv.” No details were provided regarding the specific targets or planned operations of the alleged network.
Separately, Fars News reported that two additional suspects were arrested in West Azerbaijan province on accusations of spying for Israeli intelligence. Security officials in Urmia stated that the detainees had collected and transmitted “sensitive” information about key local facilities and provided detailed confessions following their arrest.
