Iran calls Zelenskyy “clown” over Strait Of Hormuz comments

The Iranian Embassy in South Africa ridiculed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his remarks on the outcome of the UN Security Council meeting regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The embassy referred to the Ukrainian leader as a “clown” in a post on the social media platform X, Caliber.Az reports.

In his address, Zelenskyy criticised the UN Security Council for its ineffectiveness and inability to act “in the face of such a global threat as the Iranian regime's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.”

He stressed that the situation in the Persian Gulf directly affects global market stability and living standards across countries.

Zelenskyy also compared Iran’s actions to Russia’s attempts to block Ukrainian ports and shipping in the Black Sea.

“Russia was trying to suffocate our economy. And we found a way to solve that problem through decisive action, not inaction,” Zelenskyy said.

In response, the Iranian embassy stated: “Now is not the right time to pay attention to a clown. But America and Israel are the regimes, not Iran.”
