Iran downs several drones of unknown origin near Rasht PHOTO
Several drones targeted areas near the northern Iranian city of Rasht late on June 24, according to a statement by the deputy governor of Gilan Province.
The official stated that the attack was successfully repelled by air defence forces, and all unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iran’s ISNA news agency.
The origin of the drones was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced intercepting two drones that were approaching the country's territory in the evening of June 24.
According to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the UAVs were "likely launched from Iran" and were intercepted outside Israeli airspace.
The incidents come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns about drone-based attacks across the Middle East.
