Iran, Greece release each other's captured oil tankers
Iran has released two Greek tankers, the Prudent Warrior and Delta Poseidon, that it held captive since May 2022.
According to the Greek Kathimerini, citing the country's marine ministry, the tankers have already left Iranian ports carrying with all members of their crew.
The Iranian foreign ministry announced that their tanker which had been kept captured in Greek waters has also been granted permission to leave, stating that intense negotiations have been held over several months. Following those, a memorandum was signed between the parties that led to the release of the three tankers.
Caliber.Az recalls, that the Iranian Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) stopped the two Greek oil tankers when crossing the Persian Gulf in May 2022, which coincided with the arrest of an Iranian tanker by the Greek government in the Mediterranean Sea, with support from the US.
