Iran, Iraq discuss border security, anti-smuggling cooperation

Iran and Iraq have reaffirmed their commitment to close security cooperation, focusing on border control, combating smuggling, and maintaining regional stability.
The Iranian Military Attaché to Iraq, Major General Majid Gholipour, met with Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji, in Baghdad on January 6, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
During the talks, the officials discussed strategies to strengthen coordination on border management, tackle smuggling networks, and enhance overall regional security.
The meeting also highlighted the two countries’ ongoing efforts to expand military and security collaboration, including joint research, military studies, and the exchange of expertise and information.
