Iran president highlights China’s role in defying US sanctions
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian hailed China as a pivotal strategic partner, underscoring that the Islamic Republic will never forget Beijing’s crucial support in countering US sanctions.
During a meeting with Peng Qinghua, the Chinese president’s special envoy, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for China’s steadfast friendship during challenging times, emphasizing that Iran remains committed to swiftly implementing key agreements, including the Belt & Road Initiative and the landmark 25-year comprehensive strategic partnership, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Pezeshkian highlighted the vast potential for collaboration between the two nations, noting that their relationship is immune to international pressures. He contrasted China’s peace-driven efforts with the US’s destabilizing actions in the region, particularly in armed conflicts for profit.
The Iranian president also condemned Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, calling on the international community, especially China as a UN Security Council member, to denounce Israeli actions and uphold Iran’s territorial sovereignty.
In response, Peng affirmed China’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with Iran, condemning the assassination, and reaffirming respect for international principles.
