Iran reveals details of Hamas leader's assassination by Israeli forces
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has revealed that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, was killed by a short-range shell fired by the Israeli army.
The projectile had a warhead weighing approximately seven kilograms, says a report by IRGC, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"According to the results of the investigation, this terrorist operation was carried out using a short-range projectile with a warhead weighing about 7 kilograms," the IRGC statement confirmed. The projectile was reportedly fired from a location outside the guest accommodation area where Haniyeh was staying.
The IRGC also emphasized that Iran will avenge Haniyeh's death with severe punishment at an appropriate time and place. The statement claimed that the assassination was a planned and executed operation by Israel with support from the United States.
