Iran’s Araghchi congratulates Iraq’s new PM amid Trump support
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has congratulated Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi on his appointment as Iraq’s new prime minister, expressing support for political stability and cooperation between the two countries.
According to a post published by Araghchi on the social media platform X and cited by Caliber.Az, the Iranian minister, welcomed the decision by Iraq’s coordination framework and extended his best wishes to the incoming leader.

“I welcome the choice of the coordination framework to appoint the prime minister and congratulate my brother Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi on his appointment, wishing him success in forming a government and serving the people of Iraq. Iran reaffirms respect for Iraq’s sovereignty, supports political stability and development, as well as strengthening cooperation in the interests of the peoples of both countries,” Araghchi said.
The development comes amid parallel support expressed by US President Donald Trump, who also congratulated Al-Zaydi on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump later told journalists that Washington strongly backs the new Iraqi prime minister.
"With our help, he won, and we want him to do very well. And I told him that the United States is with him all the way. It was a great victory, the new head of Iraq is somebody that we support, very strongly," Trump told reporters before he departed the White House for a trip to Florida.
