Iran’s FM discusses regional situation with UN Secretary-General
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss recent developments in the Middle East, the situation in Lebanon, and maritime security.
Araghchi condemned violations of international law by the United States and Israel, calling on the UN to provide a clear assessment and consider questions of accountability, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
He also noted that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is linked to the broader regional context and ongoing escalation.
Araghchi separately addressed the situation in Lebanon, expressing concern over the impact of Israeli strikes and urging an end to military actions.
In response, the UN Secretary-General outlined the organisation’s position on the situation in the Persian Gulf, Western Asia, and maritime security issues.
