Iran's top diplomat discusses regional tensions with European counterparts

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is in the United States to attend the UN General Assembly, held separate meetings with his Polish and Spanish counterparts, Radosław Sikorski and José Manuel Albares, to discuss regional developments.

According to a written statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the talks focused on bilateral relations, while the sides also exchanged views on various issues.

Addressing recent regional developments, Araghchi said the unstable situation in the Strait of Hormuz was the result of what he described as “aggressive actions by the United States.”

He also stressed “the importance of the principled position of European countries in condemning the attack on Iran and the crimes committed during these actions,” and called on all countries to condemn the attacks.
