Iran says ties with China “stronger than ever” after Beijing talks
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated cooperation between Tehran and Beijing “will be stronger than ever,” following talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in the Chinese capital.
During the meeting, Araghchi described Beijing as “a sincere friend of Tehran,” Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.
ISNA, an Iranian state news agency, reported that Araghchi also said Tehran would “only accept a fair and comprehensive agreement” with the United States.
China has not yet issued an official statement on the talks, which marked the first meeting between the foreign ministers of the two close allies since the outbreak of the war involving the United States and Israel against Iran.
The meeting comes ahead of a planned summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, scheduled for Beijing next week.
