Iran to UK: "Drop the low-cost statements"
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the United Kingdom has issued a sharp rebuke of UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper following her comments on diplomatic efforts linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X, the Iranian embassy responded directly to Cooper’s statement on regional diplomacy and a recent ceasefire arrangement, urging a change in approach.
“Better advice: Drop the low-cost statements and join the global public opinion to hold the U.S. and Israel regimes accountable for their war crimes,” the embassy wrote.
The remarks came after Cooper highlighted her recent diplomatic engagements across multiple countries as part of efforts to sustain pressure during a fragile ceasefire period.
“As we near the end of the agreed 2-week ceasefire, this is a critical diplomatic moment. For the last 6 days, I’ve travelled through 5 countries, speaking to more than a dozen foreign ministers and counterparts, to maintain international pressure on opening the Strait of Hormuz,” she said.
