Iran vows to block key oil route if US targets energy sites

Iran has warned it could close the Strait of Hormuz if the United States carries out strikes on Iranian power plants, a senior military official stated.

A representative of the central headquarters of Iran’s armed forces, known as Khatam al-Anbiya, said the country would take immediate retaliatory measures in response to any such attack, Tasnim reports.

“However, if US threats against Iran’s power plants are carried out, the following punitive measures will be taken immediately: the Strait of Hormuz will be completely closed and will not reopen until the destroyed power plants are restored,” the official said.

He added that Iran would also target “all power plants, energy infrastructure, and information technology of the Zionist regime,” referring to Israel.
