Iran warns of retaliation over alleged US naval blockade of its ports
Iran’s armed forces have warned of potential retaliatory measures in response to what they describe as a blockade of Iranian ports by the United States Navy.
In a statement broadcast by IRIB, the central headquarters of Iran’s armed forces accused U.S. forces of escalating tensions in the region.
“If aggressive American military forces continue their blockade, banditry and piracy in the region, they must be prepared for retaliatory actions from Iran’s powerful armed forces,” the statement said.
The Iranian military also stressed its readiness to respond to any further escalation, underscoring its control over key strategic waterways.
“We are ready and determined, while monitoring the behaviour and movements of enemies in the region and continuing to control the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, to inflict even greater damage on American and Zionist enemies in the event of new aggression,” it added.
