Iran will not back US agreement without rights safeguards, speaker says
31 May 2026 14:51
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Sunday, May 31, that any agreement with the United States would not be endorsed unless Tehran is fully confident its rights are guaranteed, Iran International reports.
“We will not approve any agreement until we are certain that we have secured the rights of the Iranian people,” Ghalibaf stated.
He added that those engaged in diplomatic efforts do not trust US statements or assurances.
Ghalibaf also noted that proposed revisions to Iran’s seventh development plan will be reviewed by specialized parliamentary committees, with particular attention to reconstruction following war-related damage.
