Iranian delegation: Lebanese PM Nawaf Sallam obstructing ceasefire
An Iranian-American academic accompanying an Iranian delegation in Islamabad has accused Lebanon’s prime minister of obstructing efforts to secure a ceasefire, saying he is pushing for an alternative negotiation track.
Mohammad Marandi wrote on X page that, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam was blocking progress towards a ceasefire by insisting that any agreement be reached through direct Lebanon–Israel negotiations and normalisation talks, rather than the Iran–US-led diplomatic channel currently under discussion.
“Lebanese PM Nawaf Sallam is obstructing the ceasefire in Lebanon by insisting it be agreed upon through direct Lebanese-Israeli regime negotiations and normalization talks, rather than through the ongoing Iran-Trump regime negotiations. Amazing...,” Marandi said.
