Iranian hackers claim cyberattack on Israel’s Kfar Yona municipality
The hacker group Handala, which is linked to Iran, has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack targeting the municipality of Kfar Yona in central Israel, according to foreign media.
The group noted that the attack caused serious disruptions in municipal service systems, communications, and local government management infrastructure.
“Handala emphasised the severity of the network breakdown, claiming that municipal service systems, communications, and administrative databases are collapsing one after another.
The group further taunted Israeli cyber defenses by asserting that no emergency message or password can save the municipality from the ongoing assault,” the report added.
However, the municipality of Kfar Yona stated that all systems and services for residents are operating normally and that no evidence of major disruptions has been identified.
At the same time, officials noted a malfunction in the telephone system interface, which is maintained by an external contractor.
