Iranian man, woman arrested after attempt to enter UK nuclear naval base
A 34-year-old Iranian man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested after attempting to gain access to HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland, home to Britain’s nuclear submarines and Trident deterrent, Police Scotland said.
The pair did not attempt to force entry, but reportedly asked if they could enter the base and were refused permission before being detained, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5 pm on Thursday, 19 March, 2026, we were made aware of two people attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde. A 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman have been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
A Navy spokesperson added: “Police Scotland have arrested two people who unsuccessfully attempted to enter HM Naval Base Clyde on Thursday, 19 March. As the matter is subject to an ongoing investigation, we will not comment further.”
The Ministry of Defence has been approached for comment.
