Iranian missile strikes grounds of US Embassy in Baghdad photo / video

An Iranian missile struck a helicopter landing pad on the grounds of the Embassy of the United States in Baghdad, according to the Associated Press.

The report cited two Iraqi security officials who said the projectile landed within the embassy compound. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to the officials, the impact occurred outside the Green Zone — the heavily fortified district in central Baghdad that houses Iraqi government institutions and numerous foreign diplomatic missions.

Video obtained by the Associated Press shows smoke rising from inside the embassy complex following the strike.
