Iranian president and Pakistan’s prime minister discuss Middle East situation
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which he confirmed that Iran does not plan to attack neighbouring countries or enter into conflict with them, the Iranian president’s press office has reported.
According to Pezeshkian, the strikes will be aimed only at bases from which attacks on Iranian territory are carried out, as part of Iran’s right to self-defence.
The Iranian president emphasised that without intervention from the international community and global organisations, addressing the causes of military aggression against Iran could lead to chaos and instability in the global security system.
Sharif, for his part, congratulated the president, government, and people of Iran on the election of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and expressed hope that under his leadership, the country would achieve further prosperity.
