Irano-Armenian political propagandist Eldar Lankaransky sacked He is known for his anti-Azerbaijani activities in the European Parliament
The political adviser of the S & D group (a group of Social Democrats) of the European Parliament, Eldar Mammadov has been dismissed from his post because of "serious misconduct," the Lepoint newspaper reported.
The publication writes that in the S & D group Eldar Mammadov was one of those who advocated a "soft stance towards Qatar", as was the previously detained Vice-President of the European Parliament Eva Kaili, also a member of the S & D group. Some socialist MPs also point to Mammadov's ambiguous position towards the Iranian regime. However, Caliber.Az has already written about Mammadov's close ties with Iran before.
Mammadov's family originates in the Azerbaijani city of Lankaran. Mammadov (Mammadovs, according to his passport) was born on December 13, 1972, in the Latvian capital Riga. He studied there, worked in the Latvian banking sector, and managed Parex Bank's office in Azerbaijan. He served at the Latvian Foreign Ministry and at its embassies in Spain and the USA. Mammadov's diplomatic career was the springboard for his subsequent employment in Brussels in 2007, where he worked as a political advisor to the Social Democrats' group in the European Parliament.
Over the years, Mammadov systematically wrote articles and posts on social media aimed at discrediting Azerbaijan in the West.
