Iraq closes airspace to civilian aircraft
Iraq has announced the closure of its airspace to civilian aviation, TASS reported, citing a source in the Baghdad Flight Information Region control service responsible for managing air traffic over the country.
“The airspace is closed until approximately 09:40 UTC,” the agency’s source said, adding that aircraft scheduled to transit Iraqi airspace en route to third countries are being redirected and are altering their routes to pass through the airspace of other states before reaching Iraq’s borders.
The decision comes amid escalating regional tensions. Multiple explosions have been reported in Tehran, along with additional blasts in several other locations across Iran, following a joint attack launched by Israel and the United States on February 28.
