Iraq extends closure of airspace to civilian flights
13 March 2026 17:21
Iraq has extended the closure of its airspace to civilian flights for an additional three days amid heightened regional tensions.
The decision was announced on Friday, March 13, by the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, according to a statement cited by the Qatar News Agency.
The restriction applies to all incoming, outgoing and transit flights and is intended to ensure the safety of passengers and air traffic during the current regional security situation.
Meanwhile, Abdul Latif Rashid warned about the potential consequences of attacks targeting key infrastructure, civilian buildings and the headquarters of security forces, emphasising that such actions could threaten regional stability.
