05 August 2026 17:30

The foreign ministers of Iraq, Jordan and Egypt reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trilateral cooperation during a meeting in Amman, with discussions focusing on energy, economic integration and regional security.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met on the sidelines of the Arab ministerial meeting on Jerusalem to review progress under the three countries' trilateral cooperation mechanism, Iraq's Foreign Ministry said in a post on X.

The ministers agreed to strengthen the mechanism by activating specialized technical committees and holding regular meetings at various levels to monitor the implementation of joint projects.

Energy cooperation featured prominently in the talks, with the three sides reviewing collaboration in the oil sector and electricity interconnection projects, while exploring ways to expand partnerships aimed at promoting economic integration and enhancing regional energy security.

The ministers also discussed the latest regional developments, including efforts to restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as part of broader initiatives to reinforce regional stability.

In addition, they underlined the importance of ending military operations, easing regional tensions and resolving ongoing crises through political and diplomatic means.
