Iraq keeps airspace closed as regional tensions persist
10 March 2026 16:33
Iraq has extended the closure of its airspace to all arriving, departing, and transit flights for an additional 72 hours starting at noon on Tuesday, March 10.
The decision was announced by the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and reported by Qatar News Agency.
In a statement, the authority said the measure was adopted as a temporary precaution based on ongoing assessments of the security situation and recent developments in the region.
Officials noted that the closure will be subject to continuous review, and the decision could be reassessed depending on how the situation evolves on the ground.
Airlines and relevant authorities will be informed of any further updates regarding the status of Iraqi airspace.
