Iraq plans to increase oil, gas production, PM Ali al-Zaidi says

Iraq plans to increase investment in gas production to achieve self-sufficiency, as well as to boost oil output over the next five years, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has said.

Speaking during a meeting in France with a delegation led by TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné, he outlined that this will allow Iraq to reach production of 10 million barrels per day, Caliber.Az reports, PM’s press service.

During the talks, the sides discussed the strategic projects being implemented by the company in Iraq, particularly in gas production.

Pouyanné confirmed TotalEnergies’ readiness to cooperate with Iraq in the energy sector.

He said the company plans to increase its investment in Iraq’s oil industry from the current $12 billion to $16 billion in the future.

Al-Zaidi also noted that preparations are currently under way for an international energy conference to be held in Baghdad.
