Iraq restarts oil exports from southern fields via Basra
18 April 2026 09:05
Iraq has resumed oil exports from its southern fields for the first time since late February, marking a restart of shipments after a pause of more than a month, according to Shafaq News.
A tanker has arrived at the country’s main export terminal in Basra, where it is currently loading the first cargo of crude oil since the suspension. The shipment represents the initial export from southern production sites following the interruption.
According to a source cited by the outlet, the vessel is expected to load approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil and will then depart for India.
